Catamaran Optimist

Hannes & Christine

Hannes and Christine

We left Europe 2008 with ‘Pukuri’, an open bridge catamaran. Sailed her all the way to French Polynesia, westernmost point: Bora Bora, back to Tahiti and then had the chance to upgrade our very basic lifestyle and bought a new cat in Portugal.

We left Portugal on ‘Optimist’ in February 2012, Canary Islands, crossing the Atlantic in April (31 days!!! no wind), St.Martin in May, Panama canal transit in June, crossing the Pacific in September (37 days), Tahiti in October.

Sold Pukuri and sailed to Fiji via Suwarrow atoll and Maupiti. Had to wait because of cyclone Evan and just made it to Savusavu/ Fiji at the end of 2012!

2013 we sailed against the wind to Wallis and Tonga and back to Fiji to spend another cyclone season in Savusavu.

Christine had to leave the boat in June 2014 because of unsolvable relationship issues.
