Ha’apai, part 2
We really like the Ha’apai group of Tonga. It’s very relaxed, quiet, very little tourism (some beautiful small resorts) and very few boats.
The only drawback is that there are just very few good anchorages. Mostly they are too exposed, so as soon there’s too much wind from every direction you’ll get stuck in one place. As we did for the last week, hiding in the West of Ha’afeva. But a great place to get stuck, snorkeling beside the boat, walking across the island to the village, circumnavigate the island, and wait for the right wind to sail to Fiji.
Our favorite spot was the anchorage at Tofanga island and just a bit further on Uanukuhihifo. What a beach! We could have stayed another month but the visa was finished by then….
